No Limits to Health 2023 Review

Wow, It’s hard to believe we are now in 2024. As founder of No Limits to Health CIC I look back at key achievements in the mission of No Limits to Health to encourage greater physical and mental health through cycling. I am truly humbled at the individuals and groups that we reached over the past year in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. From our main base at Mount Shiloh Church, East Park we were visited by local people young and old living in the local areas including East Park, Bilston, Dunstall, Penn and also further afield across the Bllack Country (Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell) and West Midlands.

As a brief recap the vision of No Limits to Health CIC is to “enable more people to enjoy increased physical health and mental wellbeing through cycling”. We believe that the key way to achieve this is by having by setting up dedicated cycle hubs located at strategic locations such as next to a park or local faith/community centre’s that naturally atract local people. In the case of our main cycle hub in East Park, Wolverhampton we are located right next to East Park and also on the grounds of Mount Shiloh Church, Hickman Avenue, East Park, WV1 2BS.

Our No Limits to Health 2023 Year of Cycling kicked off in February 2023 and ended in October 2023. During that period we were running a regularly weekly cycling activity schedule that ran as follows:

Tuesday 10am - 12pm Learn to Ride - East Park

Wednesday 10am - 12pm Led Ride from No Limits East Park Cycle Hub to local areas in Wolverhampton & the Black Country

Thursday 6 - 7 pm Learn to Ride No Limits - Church of God of Prophecy, Dunstall

Thurdsay 7pm - 9:30pm No Limits Burn - Led Ride for advanced riders

Saturday 9:30 - 12:30pm Led Ride for all from No Limits East Park Cycle Hub

Average Attendance - our average attandance on the led rides was six people plus three ride leaders. Our highest attendance was fifteen people. That event took place in July 29th on our fantast group ride from East Park into Wolverhampton City Centre. It was a particularly memorable event as we were graced by the attendance of our local East Park Ward Councillor, Lovinyer Daley

Highlight of the Year - This was undoubted the cycle ride that we organised for a group of teenage lads who were refugees from Kurdistan, Iraq and the West Indies. They were all from a well known hotel in Wolverhampton. We received permission from Serco to meet with their parents and request permision to take them on a local cycle ride from our cycle hub in East Park to Bentley Bridge KFC. The lads thoroughly loved the the whole experience. The weather only was fantastic with clear blue sky and hot temperatures they were used to from their countries of origin. At the end when asked if they enjoyed the cycle ride and KFC meal they all responded with shouts of “yeah” or “it was great”.

That’s all for now folks. We look forward to the start of our No Limits to Health 2024 Year of Cycling. If you wish to join us then please check back on this website in March 2024 when our cycling programme begins.

Keep Cycling in 2024

Sam Henry
